About Astronomy Benalla
Astronomy Benalla (Inc.) was formed in 2010 to promote the interest and
enjoyment of amateur astronomy.
Through our activities and services, we seek to foster safe and enjoyable
learning experiences while encouraging the interest and involvement of the
wider community of Benalla and district. We have a strong tradition of
community engagement providing regular viewing sessions for the general
public and local community groups.
A diverse group with a passion for experiencing the wonders of the universe
beyond our home planet, our membership interests include focusing on the
best view our telescopes can provide, the best astrophotography our telescopes can
record, and building our knowledge of Astronomy.
Meetings are held at 7:30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, they consist
of a short business session followed by Guest or Member presentations.
Each month 2 public viewing sessions are attempted*. A Moon Viewing
at the Showgrounds, and a Deep Sky Viewing at our dark sky site at
the Observation Pad, Winton Wetlands. The viewings are free, however
a gold coin or so donation towards costs is appreciated.
The next meeting and viewing sessions are listed in the panel on the left. A more
detailed CALENDAR, DIRECTIONS and the STATUS of Activities is provided on our
Events Page (see the menu bar above). Please refer to it for the status of
