Astronomy Benalla Viewing Report - Saturday 25th July 2015The night turned out well with our two visitors, plus Martin Welsh came later. The sky was partially cloudy for the first hour then slowly cleared from the west. The Moon became really sharp and we used several filters on both Venus and Jupiter to cut the brightness and bring out the bands. We even saw Saturn for a few moments. Split the alpha Centauri and Canopus double stars. Visitors left about 6:15pm and Martin and I called it a night at 6:45pm as cloud started to roll back in. Went back to the Bowls club for a coffee.I was surprised how firm the oval surface was considering how much rain had fallen this week. Rupe Cheetham
